Yesterday I posted on FB and IG that my sweet family is growing by one in December. These days I’m all about random Google searches (i.e. “is ____ safe during pregnancy?”), stretch mark prevention cream, and nursing bras, and I’m loving it. I just got out of the first trimester, and I also just felt a movement in my stomach the other night that might have been the baby or might have been my stomach settling. There are so many unknowns during pregnancy, and sometimes they can be frightening. But there are also lovely kinds of pregnancy unknowns, like wondering if we’re having a boy or a girl, and how he or she will be different and/or similar from/to Sam, and what he or she or will look like and be like. These are beautiful days, and we are really happy. Thank you for the support and love!
This stretch mark prevention cream. It’s such an emotional rush to smell this cream's distinct fragrance—something like cookies—and to remember the wait for baby #1 and now baby #2.
This Target dress. Yesterday I went to Target and bought a pair of maternity jorts (they’re as sexy as they sound) and this Liz Lange dress. It’s super soft and I love the soft romantic ruffles and the asymmetrical bottom.
The Sleeping. I’ve been taking advantage of my schedule as a stay-at-home mom to one child to catch some extra z’s. Sometimes I want to blog or work on my second book, but I get that post-lunch sleepiness—which I always got, but which seems particularly strong during this pregnancy—and I take a short afternoon siesta. Yes, I recognize that I am extremely fortunate to be able to do this, and no, I won’t do this forever, and yes again, it’s been a great way to refresh myself during the day.
The Bruschetta. This is one of my very favorite summer foods; it might just be my favorite summer food. Let me tell you that it’s been delicious the few times that we’ve had it so far this year. You take good bread, and tomatoes, and olive oil, and balsamic vinegar, and a few other things (read a recipe—trust me, you don’t want to take my word for it), and it makes a divine treat that explodes with summertime flavor and happiness.
This movie. Sam and I watch Minions or Despicable Me or Despicable Me 2 a lot. I’ve had a thing for Steve Carell since The Office, and I love virtually any story about a grumpy person softened by love. I can see many viewings of Despicable Me 3in our future.
The Second Baby’s heartbeat. For many, the early days of pregnancy can be unsettling at times. In my case, tests indicated that I was pregnant, but I didn’t have a lot of symptoms and I had the general first trimester fears. Listening to baby’s heartbeat for the first and second time was lovely. It was especially beautiful sharing the second time with Sam.
