This weekend I prioritized starting a new book over reading, so now I’m currently reading four different books and about the same percentage done with all of them (26%). I hope to be back with a review tomorrow, but in the meantime, here’s a collection of some things that I’m loving:
Anthropologie Door Knocker: I bought an Elephant Door Knocker from Anthropologie two-three years ago, and I’m still loving it. And now I’m raising a new generation, my son Samuel, who also loves knocking on the door by raising the elephant’s trunk. It’s festive and creative and it makes me feel like my front door has some personality. It doesn't look like Anthropologie carries the elephant anymore, but check out the woodpecker doorknocker to the left!
Tribe Swirl Fiery Sriracha Hummus: I just recently discovered this Tribe Swirl Fiery Sriracha Hummus and it is amazing. It’s got some heat but it doesn’t singe your tongue off. For some reason, nearly every time I go to Kroger they’re running some kind of ½ price sale and I bring home three-four containers of it. Then I go back and get more the next week.
Emily Winfield Martin's Day Dreamers: I’ve mentioned my love of Martin’s books before, and I recently purchased her new release, Day Dreamers. The books are whimsical and fanciful, and every page looks pretty enough to be framed. I love that her books really encourage young readers to use their imaginations—to believe that so many things are possible—like riding on a unicorn with your best friend or hearing a griffin’s wings. They’re absolutely beautiful books and I love reading them.
Pretentious Beer Glass: Dan, Sam, and I met up with friends at Pretentious Beer Glass on Friday and I got an opportunity to check out Matthew Cummings’ (and others’) incredible work in person. Of course, I’ve seen it before, but Pretentious’ work is truly stunning. Check out their Etsy page for lots of options, including the Cider Glass pictured at left. These glasses would make you feel fancy 24/7. Hello, Valentine's Day?!
Kindle Paperwhite: Before my Kindle Paperwhite, I owned a Kindle Fire for a few years. I was capable of reading ebooks on the Fire and I wasn’t sure that I needed to make the Kindle upgrade. In 2015 I did, and I’m still happily reading on my amazing ereader. If you’re looking for a tablet that also allows you to browse the web easily, this one isn’t for you. The Paperwhite offers an “experimental” browser—their words, not mine. But if you’re looking for an amazing ereader that gives you a great, customizable reading experience (brightness settings, back-light, font options, etc.), this is one to look at.
Revlon Balm Stain in Romantic: I don’t wear a lot of make-up but I love this Balm Stain in Romantic. It’s a vibrant shade of red that somehow doesn’t look too bright on me—which is a big concern to me since I don’t wear make-up a lot. It also seems to be long-lasting. I woke up with some still on my lips this morning (unless they were still stained from the pink icing on the cookie cake I ate last night). But trust me, it’s great stain.
Melissa and Doug Let's Play House! Cleaning kit—Most likely your toddler doesn’t need more toys. But Sam has received cleaning supplies before and we just bought a set for Sam’s BFF Logan, and they were wildly popular. If you’re looking for a gift for a toddler, take a look at these.
Cookie Cake (not pictured, but always delicious): My very good friend, Stephanie, sent me home from their Super Bowl party with the remaining pieces of the cookie cake that I had brought to the festive occasion. Naturally, I protested, but secretly I wanted it so bad. This morning I’m eating a big, healthy slice with my coffee. Here’s to my first cookie cake of 2017!
