Our hallway after the UPS man delivered 12 boxes of LuLaRoe inventory. Needless to say, I'm still frantically photographing the clothes.
Opening my first box. For a sneak peek of some of my fave items, check out my Facebook group later today.
One thing that I really love about this stage of my life professionally is that in some ways, it feels pretty open. That might seem strange to say—given that I’m a stay-at-home mom and my schedule revolves around our son—but nonetheless I’ve made time during the days to pursue what I want to do, too. I do some reading and writing, and though I’ve slowed down on that part of my life, that’s just as much a decision I’m making as it was to read and write a lot. Lately, I started thinking more about another other interest of mine, clothes, and how I could bring that into the mix as well. This brings me to my big announcement: as of a week or so ago, I’m a LuLaRoe clothing retailer. (The last sentence is probably pretty anticlimactic given this post's title.)
Aside from grades kindergarten through eleventh, I’ve always been into clothes and the procuring of those clothes. While I’m of the opinion that you should feel strong, beautiful, and confident no matter what you’re wearing, wearing an outfit that feels special and that makes you feel special doesn’t hurt the old confidence department, either.
I discovered LuLaRoe in the manner that most discoveries are made today: Facebook. Specifically, an online pop-up. To my delight and my husband’s dismay, I quickly became enamored with the clothes. In fact, that’s my primary reason for selling these wares. I love that the styles themselves are predictable (I’m currently carrying ten in my shop), but the colors and patterns that they come in are not. You can be as classic, whimsical, or bold as you want. And the simple truth is that I feel put-together when I wear these clothes, and they are also as comfortable as wearing my leisure-wear-that-most-people-would-call-active-wear.
Besides that, I wanted the opportunity to contribute financially to my family. Make no mistake, my husband and I both think that the contributions of a stay-at-home parent are extremely valuable (financially and otherwise). But I wanted this opportunity for my family and for myself. Over the last year, I’ve really recognized that it’s exciting and fun and joyous to explore what makes me feel happy and fulfilled—whether it’s writing for pleasure or selling clothes that I love.
On Wednesday, July 5th at 8:00 EST, I’ll be hosting my LuLaRoe Jess Christensen Shopping Group launch in my Facebook group. You are cordially invited. The other exciting news is that I’ll be hosting a few giveaways this week, leading up to and during the launch. SPOILER ALERT: The first giveaway starts RIGHT NOW and ends at noon EST on Wednesday, July 5th. To find it, join my Facebook group and locate the post that begins with GIVEAWAY #1. While you’re there, feel free to take a looksie at the styles that I carry (under "Size Charts" in Albums) and read my "Description." You can also follow me on Instagram.
This is a change that I’m really excited and also a little nervous about, but even the nerves are exciting.
Thanks for reading. If you’re a regular reader, know that this blog will still chiefly stay the same—what I’m reading and watching, etc. In fact, I’ll be back on Wednesday with a post about a read that I just devoured.
